Just an optimal selection for a city break in Edinburgh with best value. The location was fantastic, right between the Royal Mile and the train station. For breakfast, go to the restaurant instead of the executive lounge for a much better selection.

It boasts decent, peaceful location not far from the shopping/business district, and all the major sites in Edinburgh and especially the train station which is a short walk across the street. Friendly professional staff, they know their business....

Charming historic architecture, excellent views from certain guest rooms, efficient parking and shuttle services
Complicated room layouts could use improvement for better navigation!!! Noise insulation fell short, as sounds from outside and within disturbed the peace !!!

The lobby has a charming, classic feel that sets a cute tone, and the fitness center is well-equipped were great. The rooms boast large windows that let in plenty of natural light.
Noticed a few uneven areas on the floor which creaked with every step, a nod to the hotel's age that some might find charming while others might see it as a minor inconvenience. A slight exhaust odor occasionally seeped through, likely from outside, more evident when the heating kicked in but manageable if you adjusted the climate control. The 'city view' description felt a bit misleading. Don't expect much to write home about there. A bit more attention to room details, like.

Friendly staff, uncomplicated check-in, clean rooms. Breakfast should be booked for all days, was misunderstood at reception. The breakfast waiter did it without any problems. Extremely central location. That's as good as it gets....

Very good breakfast. Great location, good restaurant.
Despite demand, we could not get a thinner pillow there was obviously only one option

Very good hotel, professional friendly staff and absolute top location just a few meters from the Royal Mile. Rooms modern, quiet and extremely clean.
The only disappointment was the absence of salmon at breakfast. In the land of the Scottish salmon a small oversight. Otherwise the breakfast was rich and tasty.
